Mission Statement

The Mobile County Training Middle School library media program will enable individuals to become information literate and effective lifelong readers. The program will provide educational and technological opportunities to students and staff in keeping with their needs and abilities. The program will enable individuals to access, analyze, assimilate, and use information effectively.

GENERAL INFORMATION

The Mobile County Training School Library and Media Center consists of 3 areas: the Circulation area, the Reference area, and the Computer area. Regular hours of operation are 7:10 am to 2:25 pm. To find materials in the reference and circulation libraries, use the dedicated computers to search the Destiny catalog.  Ask Mrs. Lindy  for assistance if you can't find what you need.

Books are circulated one week at a time with a limit of 2 books for pleasure reading and 3 books for research purposes.  Materials can be renewed twice.

Students must have passes to the library during regular school hours, unless they are visiting during their lunch times.

Students can print school-related work in the computer lab.  (black and white only).

Check out the helpful links provided on the Links page for help with your information and reference needs.

RESERVATIONS

To schedule a class visit to the library, check the calendar on this library page and then see Mrs. Lindy.

Library reservations can be made any time in advance. Please limit your reserved time to two days.  Core classes doing required research or projects will have precedence in making reservations.

LIBRARY MEDIA HANDBOOK

The Library Media Handbook contains all the library policies set by the MCPSS.  To access this manual, go to the MCPSS website and select Divisions->Curriculum and Instruction->Library Media Services, or look under Reference on the Links page.

 Accelerated Reader

All students have access to Accelerated Reader.  Accelerated Reader (AR) is a daily progress monitoring software assessment in wide use by primary and secondary schools for monitoring the practice of reading, and it is created by Renaissance Learning, Inc.  Our district has provided all Mobile County Public Schools with the web-based version of the program which is called Renaissance Place. For more information about Renaissance Place, please visit http://www.renlearn.com/.
