Mobile County Training School's Teacher of the Year

The Mobile County Training School Teacher of the Year for the 2017-2018 school year is Mrs. Erin Gilbert Hughston. A native of Pensacola, Florida, Mrs. Hughston exploits the

talents of her students by proving to them that everyone is able to learn. Mrs. Hughston is a

product of the Escambia County School System, and a graduate of the University of West

Florida where she majored in Middle School Education with a minor in Mathematics and Social Studies.

As the Chairperson of the· Mathematics Department and Coordinator of the Problem

Solving Team (PST), Mrs. Hughston uses her leadership to share research-based, best strategies to assist in reaching every student. As a member of the Digital Literacy Team, Mrs. Hughston and two colleagues receive periodic training to assist the school in its efforts to maintain its

status as a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) school. She is swift to share what she learns at

each faculty meeting that follows training that she receives. Her use of technology to assist in mathematical instruction is an attestation to her devotion to student achievement and learning. Her desire to see students excel is contagious, and she can be found about campus assisting other teachers in employing analogous strategies in their own classrooms. She is a joy to work with for the administration, for she exhibits leadership in her every action. Her punctuality with

paperwork, PST deadlines, and pupil assessment is unparalleled, and her purposeful instruction serves as an example to every individual on campus -the young and the young at heart.

Mrs. Hughston shares the love of learning and the love of their dog, Ava, with her

husband, Mr. David M. Hughston, who is employed by the Baldwin County Public School

Congratulations to Mrs. Hughston!
